Jonne came out of the blue

Let's start with numbers then..
0 nolla 1 yksi 2 kaksi 3 kolme 4 neljä 5 viisi 6 kuusi 7 seitsemän 8 kahdeksan 9 yhdeksän 10 kymmenen 11 yksitoista 12 kaksitoista 13 kolmetoista etc 20 kaksikymmentä 21 kaksikymmentäyksi 22 kaksikymmentäkaksi 30 kolmekymmentä 40 neljäkymmentä 100 sata 110 satakymmenen 111 satayksitoista etc 200 kaksisataa etc so, generally you only have to know the numbers 0-9, the word -teens, "-toista", the word for tens "-kymmentä" and the word for hundreds "-sataa" EXERCISES: :: saying these 39 120 147 376 734 999 :: spell your phone number :: 2000 is kaksituhatta..what year is it now? For weekdays... monday - maanantai tuesday - tiistai wednesday - keskiviikko thursday - torstai friday - perjantai saturday - lauantai [lauvantai] sunday - sunnuntai if you want to say "on monday, on tuesday" etc, just add -na. maanantaina tiistaina keskiviikkona torstaina etc. yesterday - eilen today - tänään tomorrow - huomenna the day after tomorrow - ylihuomenna mikä päivä on huomenna? what day is it tomorrow? huomenna on maanantai tomorrow is monday entä ylihuomenna? what about the day after tomorrow? silloin on tiistai then it's tuesday ------------------------------------- OLLA - TO BE so, now you'll learn the word 'to be', which is quite important. present: i am - (minä) olen you are - (sinä) olet s/he is - hän on we are - (me) olemme you are - (te) olette they are - he ovat you can see that you don't have to include the personal pronoun in every case, as you can see it from the suffix of the verb. past: i am - (minä) olin you are - (sinä) olit s/he is - hän oli we are - (me) olimme you are - (te) olitte they are - he olivat learn this by heart, especially the first three "minä, sinä, hän" because you'll need them! i'll start teaching the present tense in the next lesson.. or in the lesson after it. minä olin täällä tänään i was here today hän on hauska ja sinä olet mukava. s/he is funny and you are nice. EXERCISE translate a) olin tyhmä b) olet upea kissa c) hän on yhtä tyhmä kuin aasi d) ylihuomenna olemme tyhmiä *notice partitive with plulars!!!* e) eilen olimme mukavia, mutta nyt (=now) olemme ilkeitä (ilkeä=mean) a) you and he are stupid by saturday (on monday) b) they are as nice as a stupid donkey
