i am still unsure when to add a -ä or just -a.
not the actual ending.. but just whether to add the dots on the a or not (what's that called anyways?)

for example... why is mies = miestä and not miesta? is this because of the middle vowels? still not quite understanding the middle vowels in this situation.
kappale has an e, why is it kappaletta?

because if you only have middle vowels the word gets the front vowels.
-kappale has an e, why is it kappaletta
e and i can mix whith both front and back.so if you have an a,o,u in the word the word gets the back vowel.
