yes Jonne you're right about the prefix and suffix, you should ignore the vowels in the beginning and at the end, but you still have to add a slight mad and sometimes a whole alef at the beginning of the word, like the onewe added to kataba = ektib (the letter e is the slight mad I'm taling about) you can also pronounce it as a full alef Uktob...
