the word معلم equals مدرس
both of them means "teacher" in Arabic,they are used to indicate the profession "Teacher".The word أستاذ is usually used to refer to the professors at the Univeristy we usually say أستاذ جامعي means A professor But to call your teacher you say استاذ for teachers in schools Like استاذ أحمد means "Mr. Ahmed " not "You Teacher Ahmed" And to call a profosser in a Faculty most students in Egypt say "doctor" دكتور أحمد means professor Ahmed |
