Sorry for not being able to reply earlier
Now كبير means 'big' for objects, and 'old/grown up' for people
for people, "big/fat" would be expressed by ضخم/سمين
for objects, we use قديم to mean "old"

PS: ضخم can be used for objects too, mainly used to mean huge

I gave the English equivalent of this saying on my own, its my own translation i mean.
The Arabic is:
كلما زِدْتُ عِلمًا زدتُ علمًا بِجَهلي
