Default Regarding numbers

Hi,

when it comes to using arabic numbers, how do you distinguish a point from then number zero?

For example, In English, I would say pi equals 3.14 etc, but how do you do this in Arabic when the number zero looks like "."

i.e English: 60.۹
Arabic: ٦..۹

Thanks

(please excuse my substitute of 7 for six in Arabic, and 9 for 9 in Arabic, I can't find my character map on this uni computer... I usually copy and paste the characters from there. I'll fix this later, when I'm on my own computer.

Thanks

at the place of the point here, we put a comma " , "

as that it will not have there confusion between the comma " , "and the zero " . "

as in this example :

۲۰۳,۲ : 203.2

٦۰,۹ : 60.9

plus these numbers that you wrote above are not used very often, instead we use the regular numbers like 1234567890, in fact these numbers I just wrote are called Arabic numbers because they were developed by the Arabs.

Small note: We use normal Arabic numbers (123456..) here in Morocco, unlike countries in the golf that use the other form you asked about. When I was a little girl, I used to ask my eldest sisters to write the numbers of pages normally for me on books when they have those other numbers.

Another thing, we don't write 3.14, but 3,14. French system of writing..
