In my first post, I was almost going to write that it could possably mean "made him write", but then I looked in my dictionary and didn't see it, so thought it couldn't really be used... Well, I guess knowing derivated form are more usefull that owing a dictionary ![]() ![]()

You did the right thing! The dictionnary is the first step but not the only one
![]() And as I said, I'm not sure it is used too, though it sounds possible.

in arabis language we can speak about someone who is not here "absent" as in your exemple:katabahu =he wrote it. it's right klowj
...and other thing , if u want to look the means ohf verbs in the arabic dictionary , u must look for stem of the verbe after that u find it easly exemple : katahahu its stem is kataba .

.katabahu ismahu ???? ![]() ![]() it's false because when u speak as that u can not put "ismahu" because the "hu" remplaced "ismahu"(in the grammar : kataba: verbe in the past and its remark are fatha and subjct is absent (فعل ماض مبني على الفتح, والفاعل مبني للمجهول )hu:ضمير متصل مبني في محل نصب مفعول به so 4 this reason u will can not write the subject .by the way , u can say:kattabahu jaidan = he wrote it well and well became adjectif qualificatif صفة. or u can write it but u remove "hu" as that : kataba ismahu. it's more correcte .

No Ryma we are talking about كتَّبه (shadda on "t"), I looked for it in a dictionnary yesterday before going to sleep, and this verb exist, it means (as you can guess) : ja3alahu yaktub.
So kattabahu = made him write.
