In a world where even politics seem powerless, I mean, in a world where the most serious matter is economics, what can a philosopher do? Besides, when did one do something? Even during the period of the "Lumières", where, for example, Voltaire was so near to Friedrich II, or Diderot to Catherine of Russia, did they really change things? I just repeat Calliclès'words to Socrates. I myself deeply think philosophy matters. I just wonder how it must.

I don't think that philosophy is everywhere. Moreover, what does it mean? Philosophy is not just the way you choose to live, it's the way of thinking what is and what must be. Remember the three famous Kant's questions the philosopher must answer : What can I Know? What must I do? What am I allowed to hope?

What I meant was : Philosophy is everywhere generaly when you use your reason, criticise, look for answers/truth..it's duties and role? hmm, I don't know, I can't see them, because once it become specific it won't be philosophy anymore.

I'm afraid you take philosophy for common sense. Besides, you need tools (concepts, discussion, etc.) to raise your thinking. You give too much and not enough at the same time to human mind.
