What good is? What bad is? Who can say? Good can be selfish: protect what is mine, protect my life, make my life nice even if I have to kill someone... without care about the others. Good can be:" may everybody be happy", and then I will try to organize my life so that can be. Good is an abstract notion. How do define good?
Man decided to live one with the others, it needs sacrifices. But we can imagine man chosed another way: living like lions, no master, the stronger survive. I think there are 3 types of person: those whom like beeing, living, sharing with people. Those whom deal with other for their own interest. Those whom have problems to live with people, even hate people like black, jewish... (you can recognize those persons because they pee in front their door home every morning so as to mark their place). There is also good persons whom hurt sometimes people even if they have conscious it's bad, they can't stop thereselves. ARE THEY GOOD OR BAD? |

if you want me to give one direct answer for a question like so, i will say : people are good (and) bad by nature, because the possibility of both are potential , so i think that we can not build a fare imaginations towards theme like so , if we discuss it in abstractly maner , away from many complicated and joint factors that determine if the man is good or bad by nature, and because of that, we must comprehence that the marena of discussion regarding this subject is passed the goodness, badness and nature towards a complete thoughts and concepts related to man ,life ,universe and the creature

Good is described as the absence of evil, the absence of emotional and physical pain, a pleasant feeling, satisfying, peace and positive approach and attitude that resulting to happiness or making others feel comfortable.
Mostly difficult people are people with deficit knowledge that need to be corrected if normal and healthy. Sorry but you can't describe good only such as an absence of evil. Well, tell me what evil is so?.. And white is the non-black? and black is the non-white? Good and bad is one only same concept. Once again I think good and bad exist as concept because man has a conscious. To this good/bad concept man assigns facts he judges goods or bads. Then, points of view differ. For example, at the extremes, think about Hitler and Mahtma Gandhi. I even think that some animals(social animals) get more or less an idea of good and evil, conscously or not. I think there is an average, that generaly people agree to define if something is bad or not... generaly... I wonder sometimes if someone decids to consider something good because he can obtain of this something, or because it's good for all of us. Here is a link to the dusio's question. It's an interesting subject I think, good thought to all of you. |

how can we judge what is good or bad. so often something that we feel is morally right is illegal or against our religion
i think the only way to judge what is good, and what is bad is based on what you believe in. we are all born with our natural instincts to survive, and for the most part of our lifes this is what governs our conscience. For example someone put in a situation to kill someone/something in order to save themselves most certainly would. However, when we start to believe in a religion so deeply this can overtake our natural instincts and a religious man put in the same situation would die. I think there is a little evil in all of us - how could anyone justify ripping a head of an innocent bird, but this mustnt be mistaken as our instincts. I would also like to point out that a single act can not always be defined as simply good or bad, there are many shades of grey... |

first i'd you to excuse me if i make some mistakes coz i am a frensh speaker, but i'm very interested by the discussion.
We are as humans very complicated to be understand, but i think that we should be good by nature, and this is based on my religion convictions. God won't judge us if from the first (creation) we are bad. another thing, an important part of our badness (especially selfish) is due to the environment. what if u begin by behaving in a good way? why did people change their behavior from person to another? I can assure u that in a lot of cases people even the worse of them will ameliorate their behavior if they are sur that u are a good person. |
