Ainsl,This creature laid it's egg,not the egg of a chicken. From this came the Evolved Chicken.
But I think the answer is a 'Duck'.

When the creature still laid its egg that was not the start of the chickens.
Once the creature laid a mutated egg (a chicken egg) that was the start of the chicken species. A chicken cannot "evolve" out of the egg of another creature. The "evolving" happens when a creature produces an egg with a slight change from its own egg.

the duck could not come before the chicken because the duck is a more complex bird therefore must have evolved later on
