What is your views on abortion, should it be illegal or legal? I think abortion should be legal. Now I think there should be a limit, just so women won't be having abortions left and right. I also think that a woman should be able to have an abortion within the first 2 weeks of being pregnant. This is because the heart of the baby usually comes to life around the 2 week mark. I know a lot of religions people are against abortions, but thats why I think up to the 2 week mark, it should be alright. I really believe they should be able to get an abortion until the latest that it can be done. I mean its a women(and mans) choice to whether they wont an abortion or not. The government shouldn't be able to tell a person if they can or can't have one done, its totally up to the pregnant woman.

ethically, it's against humanity, but actually, we are witnessing abortions so often, because they are done secretly in clinics.

If they are enough planned sex and pregnances, abortions would surely reduce. But that depends on our society, no one wants to kill a baby, but maybe sometimes we have to, because once the baby is brought to birth, we can not feed it at all.

Yes, you may say of social responsibility, and everyone should act on his/her role, but passions sometimes override logic. And we can just hope more conscience of what's a new birth, and make more effective protections against pregnance, but how do we always prevent pregnance?

So we must admit that many young moms are coming up!

We need higher productivity not only of industry, but also of humanbeings.

Yet abortion is a disbalance between the two, or industrial productivity falls far behind human productivity. Isn't it?

Well, according to me, the abortion problem can be seen under several points of views. First of all there is a scientific/ethic point of view and a legal one... which are totally different and may be placed opposite.

Scientifically, we may discuss forever concerning the question "when does life start?" at the two week mark as germanposter suggested it, when the brain is operationnal? , when the baby could stay alive without any external help?
On the ethic point of view, it is rather the same, eveything depends on when the life starts. By the way I guess it should be payed more attention to the mother (and father and families) willing.

On the legal point of view, the mark is arbitrarily set.

However one should keep in mind that abortion is an ememrgency solution and should not be used as a common answer to unwanted pregnancy. Contraception is the best way to regulate birth, it may also prevent from sexually transmittable deseases.

Yes, abortion should be legal everywhere (it IS in Belgium) AND at the same time anti-conceptiva have to be well promoted and easily obtainable, especially for young people.


Women should have the right to make this decision theirselves after being well informed about the psychological consequences and within a certain period. (Two weeks is too short though, it takes about two weeks after conception to discover one is pregnant) In Belgium abortion is legally regulated.
For me, acceptable reasons for abortion are medical reasons (mother or baby)and pregnancy after violation.
From what I have read and heard about it, an abortion always leaves psychological wounds to a woman, for whatever reason she has had to take that decision. So it is better to avoid this situation by contraception...

For me its not that its against my religion, but I could NEVER do that. Even if I wasn't a Christian I think I would feel the same way.

Honestly, I do think it is wrong. It really makes me sad when people talk about un-born babies like unwanted things. They are human beings. They have the same rights entilted to them as you did. They might not be born yet, but even unborn babies diserve respect (if that made sence). I think its an irresponsible thing to do. Everyone diserves life

I partially agree with you, 21st Century Darling and I am happy that have never had to be before such a choice, cause I'm sure I would have gone crazy.
But I know women having been in front of such a decision and I think it is up to them to decide and I will be the last to judge them.
I think everyone should decide for herself.

Pluiepoco, the schools in HK can't agree with you more. First, all are changing to full day sessions starting 2007. Secondly, many are closing down. Universities are thinking of combining.
