Sure we do agree
I was just trying to make you say what you thought of it... how you can have at the same time collective freedom and personal freedom... in case you take them like opposit (they may not be so but often are)

Hiya,

Maybe I can't provide a definition of freedom that everyone would like but perhaps that's becuase of its translation into other languages? Freedom is an emotive word, not really a concept and from what iv'e read it looks like the majority of people here are thinking of a word closer to liberty. Freedom is something totally wild and untamed, it's impossible to have 'freedom' in a society where law acts as a restraint. But it is possible for a society to have liberty, liberty at least acknowledges the 'freedom' of others. If one man claims the freedom to kill another and that man claims the freedom to defend himslef then surely the idea of freedom is contradicting itself and can't exist.

I propose that freedom is built on the restraint. No restraint,no freedom simutaneously.Everything has two sides itself.
So i definite freedom is a part of one thing and opposite to restrait.

paraphrase from Conference on Development and Liberation in Kuala Lumpur., which embodies what I believe.

I have made some personal edits

freedom --
freedom is defined as the ability to make choice

Merely having a wealth of choices is not freedom. We must make the right choices—choices that show compassion for all and which are not motivated by greed. True growth would allow all people to make these choices for themselves. For Buddhists, the ideal of freedom is threefold: the first freedom is the freedom to be free from insecurities and the dangers of poverty, disease, famine, etc. This level of freedom is the most influenced by advancements in technology and health and global cooperation in the name of meeting basic needs is essential. The second freedom is social freedom and the freedom from human oppression and exploitation; such a state presupposes tolerance, solidarity, and benevolence. This stage of freedom is synthesizes the collective with the individual in terms of peace and progress. Lastly is the freedom of the inner life, the freedom from mental suffering, the freedom from insatiable desire, and the freedom to accept the cyclical, multi-causal and inextricably connected nature of life.

Freedom is nothing.Freedom is ABSENCE.
There is nothing called ''we''.We had been created. So we hadn't exist before. And we will die one day. This is all illusion.Earth, stars, the other planets, sun and all the things around us.These are all an illusion. They had created by God! like us.In fact there is nothing called life.Life ihad created too.So there couldn't be a thing called FREEDOM...

Freedom from what? We are free! Free drinks when you order lobster! Free the prisoner! Free the slaves!

There are so many things we could be free from, that yes, the word freedom is way to eclectic.

I am a prisoner of war and I have just been let loose. Freedom!!!

I am a slave and I have just been declared a non-slave. Freedom!!!!

I was in a monarchical oppressive government and have fought a war to become independent of that government. Freedom!!!!

My mother confined me to my room for calling her a bitch. She just said I could come out now. Freedom!!!!!

It's a noun. I have freedom. But it's a noun like love. I have love. I have compassion. I have soul.

So, yeah. Freedom. It is all in the context. So, I ask again, freedom from what?
