I don't know if I have already asked about it but I'm too lazy to look for it :P

Some time ago I was argueing with a friend of mine (a strong believer) about suicide. He told me that it's a sin, no matter what...

What if there is a situation, that one have to sacrafice him(her)self to save a person he/she loves ? Is it still a sin? This person will burn in hell for eternity, even though he/she just saved another human?


The friend also believes in God's infinite goodness, so even if someone was a bad person in normal life, if He deeply regrets his sins, he will be absolved and go to heaven. OK... How about serial murderer that raped and killed many, many people in his miserable life. If in the end he "deeply regrets" it,he will just get away with it ?

Well, tell your friend that suicide is not about sacrifice ourselfs to someone we love. There's a thousand reasons to people who commit suicide...

I'll say, I already thought to commit suicide. I'm sure people who say that are happy, if not they wouldn't say it. They don't know what pain is, they never felt it.

I've never thought about committing a suicide because for me it's a giving up and life to precious to lose it in such stupid way.

Anyway it's not about suicide itself, but more about the religious aspects of it.

When I thought about committing suicide I thought about that too... about all I was going to loose and stuff...

But I think that kind of opinion (of your friend) doesn't make sense. They say we're bad people if we commit suicide, etc., that's stupid. We must respect each other's opinions, but for me it's stupid.

Yeah. For me such typecasting is stupid too. We, as humans, are inteligent, self-aware beeings so if one want to commit a suicide, even though for me it's stupid, senseless and selfish, he/she has right to do that because it's his/her own free will.

Anyway we're wandering from the subject a little bit. Let's get back to the questions

Hello and sorry for my english.

I’m not a believer and so I certainly am out off the topic.
I only wanted to say that I’m quite sure about people committing suicide that they are completely desperate, at the end of a long awful and terrible travel deep inside themselves.
And they don’t deserve our judgement on doing what they do, but only our compassion and empathy, for having to get through such desperate feelings.

I think that a murderer, a predator, has nothing to do with these people.
Even if to be a predator has certainly root in the past of these persons. Even if there are two or more levels of understanding: the first about their sickness, but the second about the fact that they takes lives, and to me there is no forgiveness for that.
On my point of view, there is nothing to be compared about committing suicide or taking lives.

About the hell, as a no believer, I think that murderers and people doing so bad things knowing in a part of themselves how much they are wrong, they already live in “hell”, here and now.
Because the most deep forgiveness is internal, something inside of ourselves.

It was a personal point of view, nothing else!
