Fire Man at 6 years
In Phoenix, Arizona, a 26-year-old mother stared down at her 6 year old son, who was dying of terminal leukemia. Although her heart was filled with sadness, She also had a strong feeling of determination. Like any parent, she wanted her son to grow up & fulfill all his dreams. Now that was no longer possible. The leukemia would see to that. But she still wanted her son's dream to come true. She took her son's hand and asked, 'Billy, did you ever think about what you wanted to be once you grew up? Did you ever dream and wish what you would do with your life?' 'Mommy, I always wanted to be a fireman when I grew up.' Mom smiled back and said, ‘Let’s see if we can make your wish come true.' Later that day she went to her local fire Department in Phoenix, Arizona, where she met Fireman Bob, who had a heart as big as Phoenix. She explained her son's final wish and asked if it might be possible to give her 6 year-old son a ride around the block on a fire engine. Fireman Bob said, 'Look, we can do better than that. If you'll have your son ready at seven o'clock Wednesday morning, we'll make him an honorary Fireman for the whole day.He can come down to the fire station, eat with us, go out on all the fire calls, the whole nine yards! And if you'll give us his sizes, we'll get a real fire uniform for him, with a real fire hat - not a toy -- one-with the emblem of the Phoenix Fire Department on it, a yellow slicker like we wear and rubber boots. They’re all manufactured right here in Phoenix, so we can get them fast.' Three days later Fireman Bob picked up Billy, dressed him in his uniform and escorted him from his hospital bed to the waiting hook and ladder truck. Billy got to sit on the back of the truck and help steer it back to the fire station. He was in heaven. There were three fire calls in Phoenix that day and Billy got to go out on all three calls. He rode in the different fire engines, the Paramedic's' van and even the fire chief's car. He was also videotaped for the local news program. Having his dream come true, with all the love and attention that was lavished upon him, so deeply touched Billy, that he lived three months longer than any doctor thought possible. One night all of his vital signs began to drop dramatically. The head nurse, who believed in the hospice concept - that no one should die alone, began to call the family members to the hospital. Then she remembered the day Billy had spent as a Fireman, so she called the Fire Chief and asked if it would be possible to send a fireman in uniform to the hospital to be with Billy as he made his transition. The chief replied, 'We can do better than that. We'll be there in five minutes. Will you please do me a favor? When you hear the sirens screaming and see the lights flashing, will you announce over the PA system that there is not a fire? It's the department coming to see one of its finest members one more time. And will you open the window to his room?' About five minutes later, a hook and ladder truck arrived at the hospital and extended its ladder up to Billy's third floor open window--------16 fire-fighters climbed up the ladder into Billy's room. With his mother's permission, they hugged him and held him and told him how much they LOVED him. With his dying breath, Billy looked up at the fire chief and said, ‘Chief am I really a fireman now?' 'Billy, you are, and the Head Chief, God, is holding your hand,' the chief said. With those words, Billy smiled and said, 'I know, He's been holding my hand all day and the angels have been singing.' He closed his eyes one last time. |

As for the peaceful life through $'s, in my opinion, more the $'s moe is the tension. You own more $'s, more you are inviting problems. At many point of time you need emotional or moral support, $ cannot get you that. money will make people jealous of you, hate you, you wont get real good friends, even if you have you wont see them. This thing is practical. There are lot of ways, you just need to have the vision to see it. |

just by usin' the same $.Ok, let's just take a simple case: somebody suffering from cancer - if it is a person with a big amount of cash in his/her pocket - even the sickness is better to live with (he/she will be able to afford professional medical treatment, new medicines, aftercare etc.). And now - try to imagine a person with the same cancer and without $ (unable to do anything to make his/her quality of life a bit better at hard times). And now, how do you think, which of them will be "happier"? Thesis that "money is to comlicate your life" is a fancy... nothing more. Civilized life generates problems, money are made to solve them... Maybe it shouldn't be like that, but we cannot change our life, the world, and the time itself. We did a lot of a damn steps too far, and there is no way back. Now we are to reap the harvest of it... |

Its true that we are growing or developing because of money, but if you say that we are civilized because of money then its wrong, humans were civilized before the money came into existence (eg: Indus valley civilization). I think money has changed our purpose to live, we live for the money now but previously we had different purpose to live, and I think that was much better. Money can make you happy, but thats temporary, because it is made by humans. What ever we have made is temporary, what ever is permanent is God's creation (eg: soul). Trust me, we are going on the wrong direction, we don't know what the hell we are doing, we are simply destroying ourselves. Nothing is impossible, we can change our life at any point of time, we should be enthusiastic about it. Now if you say that things cannot be changed just by changing one person, then, each and everything starts with one person and others follow it. |

Well, first thing: I've said that civilized life creates probems, and $ was made to solve it - that provises that the civilization was first
You just need to read it more carefully;I cannot trust you. I simply cannot. Why? Don't takie it personaly, but I thonk you're just preaching, without giving any rational background... If we are speakin' of the pain caused by a cancer, or any other illness, there is a hudge differnce between havein' the $ or not... Pain itself is the same, but how it is felt - that's the point. If I have $, I can pay the doctor, I can buy myself some medicines, go to the best hospital - just to relieve the pain, so that my quality of life (even if I'm ill) is quite better. I can die without pain, I can die under normal condition (more or less); somebody without $ is just all alone with the pain, without any hope for even a small "better"... It's not that we can say: life is stupid, let's chnge it - it's not a T-shirt you can wear and throw away after... We don't have the life, the life has us... ; Generalized and impressionable optimism is a kind of an escape from the reality. That's how I see it. It's good sometimes to be an optimist, but not forever. Or else you will never see the other side of the coin... |

As for the doctor thing and stuff, if there was no money then doctors wont be asking for it and would be doing it for free. So, having money or not doesn't make a difference at that point. I don't know about the other places but in India there are some doctors who do it for free, no charges nothing, but the amount of such people are less who work for humanity rather than money or $'s. In this context, we don't need to have money to get yourself free from the pain of your disease. Preaching!!!! Yes, I love to do that and its for those who wants to take it and tust me, its freeeeeeeeeee. For me, money is just a piece of paper and garbage, there are much more important things than money. |

I still think that today only money counts... all the rest is just less important... We live in a world of $$$. Nothing can change it. You may be right in one thing: in India world seems to be different than in Europe, or America. And the value of money is about to be much different too. But try to put yourself at my place: I do live in a world of money, I need to pay to get something and nobody wants to do anything just likt that, without payin' him/her for it...
You just +/- said: "if there was no money..." - it's just a hypothesis, nothing more. Reality is based on money, and we cannot stay out of this reality. We have only this reality. Of course, you may say: no... there is god (are gods), and a kinda other world or reality... ok, if you believe so, but remember that we are not makin' any metaphisics here, just pure reality... and we cannot take our talk to some other place, other time. We're here and now. And here and now money rulez... that's all. |
