This is what the artist had to say about the design. This might exaplin the lines too.

This original composition consist of 18"x 24" canvas panel with various Arabic alphabets super-imposed with rhombic shape dots which forms the bases of traditional arabic calligraphy. One rhombic shape carries the inscription 'Iqra' which means read, inviting the viewers to read the alphabets.

Nice theme also, and for your information, it can have a religious and deep dimension for Muslims, since "Iqra" - اقرأ was the first revelated word of Quran to Prophet MoHammad صلى الله عليه و سلم
