'helwa'

i was wondering what 'helwa' meant exactly, in arabic, and if someone could spell it out for me using the arab alphabet.

helwa = حلوى
it means some kind of cakes, for example in Morocco it means candies cookies ... but in other Arabic countries it may mean some specific kind of cakes ... or just in general (a cake).

In Egypt, helwa means beautiful. It is spelt as : حلوة

hehehe you're right, I was only thinking about food, coookies, now that I no longer think about food I can think of another meaning which is: "sweet", well not that far from food

I thought directly about the title "7elwa ya balady". So in there, it doesn't mean sweet at all, it means beautiful/good/nice.

It depends on the context anyways

it's the name of a type of dessert in turkish... but it's nothing like a cake, it's made with flour, sugar and milk or water.
