Default Root letters..

السلام عليكم ورحمت الله و بركته

How are you, big guys? I avoided posting to this newly arranged board, because I thought the original might be very soon be up and running.

I have a suwal for you, a friend of mine while talking to me said on internet that someone is murtad (it can be mur6ad). The way I understood it was - murtad means "opposing" or "quarelling" person. But I know have some doubts, when I looked up in my dictionary I couldn't find the word. Could you tell me at least three letters (7uruf) of this word?
How do I define root letters, in this case, I take out "mim" and "ta", correct? What is left over RD?

My Special Salam to Nani, Nadine, Asminha, Alex, Jonne, Salim and of course me!

مع السلامة

The word murtad مرتد is derived for the word reddah ردة , and it means someone who was a muslim and converted to another religion or belief.

Allah yehdena, wa yothabetna ala elserat elmustaqeem inshallah.

Nani,
Thank you, finally I found the root word for MURTAD is RaDDa (you wrote almost same thing). رَدَّ - means to retreat, to return, to be renegade. I spent almost half a day looking for this root. Thank you, Nani, anyway...
I know word Mustaqeem it means "straight", but I spent another half day looking for its roots too. And it is QAMa قَامَ - to stand and to stand upright. Is it correct?

To hawkster18,
Here is another example of the word strength "yothabetna" comes from "THaBaTa" ثَبَتَ - to make firm and strong in belief.

Walah this is very good ... yes , the root is radda, but when i read your post , the * ahl Alreddah * thing came to my mind, maybe thats why i wrote reddah . am sure you know who * ahl Alreddah * are?? these are the group of people who were muslims and converted from Islam after the death of the prophet Mohammad, sala Allah aliehe was salam.

and yeah , the word Thabata , or thabat is a good word, but doesn't exactly means strength

ثَبَات is :
firmness , fixedness , certainty , following , perseverance , solidness , certitude , resolve , toughness , verity , stillness , stability

I think the word * resolve * is good , and it means:

إِصْرار , تَحْرِيج , تَصْمِيم , ثَبَت , ثُبُوت , جَزْم , عَزْم , عَزِيمَة

by the way , I heard that Angelina Jolie has an Arabic word tattoo , and it is the word عزيمة * resolve*

Well, then, Angelina must be a pretty resolute person!

(I do like when you give me words like that in Arabic writing, because that way I pick them up quickly in my dictionary with original Arabic spelling, you know what I mean?)

I have a serious question for you Nani. Since you said that you come from Jordan.
What's the traditional food in Jordan? Is it same like ours you eat lots of meat milk, dairy products? I mean traditional Arabic...
What do you call camel's milk, or horse milk?

Hey Abu Dana long time no see
and abu dana I really don't think that hourse milk/camel's milk has any unique name in Arabic! it's only milk (7aleeb), so tell me, do u have any special name for camel's milk, or horse milk in your country ?

Later ...

Hey Abu_dana ,

the traditional food in Jordan is * Mansaf * and it contains of Meat, rice , and special kind of yougort which is cooked and served with the rice . For me , i enjoy vegetables more, not that i don't eat meat, but I like vegetables more.
and yes , In Jordan , pleople eat lots of meat, milk , and dairy products, it used to be a desert in the past , so u can guess what people eat in the desert, and we don't have a sea, except for the gulf of Aquaba, so we import fish *eh* ... maybe Jonne can lend us a lack or two because Finnland has lots of them and we don't. ehehe
camel milk is called * 7aleeb nyyag* 7aleeb : milk , nyyag : comes from Naqah : camel ناقة ... and i don't know about horse milk , i never heard that people usually drink it , or eat the horse, except for stories from the old Arabs and how they were used to eat it in some occasions.
