Basic phrases in MANY different languages.
What I find interesting is that when I look at Arabic and what they interpret the phrases to be, some of them are "North African" while some are "Moroccan". Anyway hope the web site helps http://www.elite.net/~runner/jennifers/ |

Nani,
What is the word for "theme" in Arabic? "Theme" or "thread", and "subject of discussion". Like this one is called "Basic greetings & Words in different dialects". Definitely the number of dialects will be reduced in Arabic, I agree with you on that. |

kan means I (before the verb) I write I speak kanekteb, kanehder ... so it's not quite a verb but a pronoun (subject),
theme or thread= mawdou3 = موضوع which also means subject discussion...

Really? You use Kan as I in stead of Ana?
That's very interesting ![]() And speaking of Sahifa, people in Uzbekistan and to my mind Azeri Turks too use it as meaning Forum, it's not even thread, sorry I was mistaken too. But then we thought we borrowed this word from Persians and they borrowed it from Arabic. |

صحيفة means daily journal , paper , tabloid , newspaper and also sheet of paper , piece of paper , page , leaf. So after all it's not very far from something we write on and read
