ما معنى "ندغة"؟

hi all,

I was wondering if any of you native speakers knew the meaning of ندغة in Egyptian colloquial. I believe it is some kind food or drug--I could not find it in any dictionary. I think the voweling is nadghah. Thanks a lot.

I can assure you that you are not the only one. I was looking up this word too in big dictionary and I couldn't find the answer to your question.

the dictionary of al mu7eet says it means the white spot that a person has on his nail tips.
النُّدْغَةُ : البياضُ في آخرالظُّـفْر
but egyptian might have a different meaning!

Hi .. the نداغة is what we call lahayyah in arabic

it is a kind of hard and sweet pacifier given for young babies

. Btw it is pronounced as naddagah نداغة and not ندغة

okay , am sure now that this is the real meaning of naddagah

i guess it is pacifier after all--althought the toffee idea was convincing. Anyhow, thanks for the help.

you are welcome .. i use to think it is some kind of toffee , but i asked an egyption friend who sasid that it is a pacifier , but it tastes sweet .. but not edible, babies only chew it ...

poor babies , we start lying at them from a very young age hehehe
