Riyadh summit discusses the Gulf union


The GGC Leaders will be holding a consultative summit in the capital Riyad, Saudi Arabia, on monday, to discuss a number of regional/provisional issues . During a preparatory ministeral meeting for the summit yesterday , The Exterior/Foreign Minister of Bahrain Askhir Khaled Ben Ahmed Al-khlifa said that the summit will discuss The Saudi king's proposal on the transition from the stage of co-operation into union, Stressing that the subject includes all of the Gulf countries .


The Gulf diplomatic sources revealed to Al-jazzera.net that the consulative summuit of the GGC leaders will proclaim/announce the union amongst the GGC countries , indicating that this step may begin with a(an) developed/advanced union between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Kingdom of Bahrain .

The sources said that the union formulation which'll be announced in the summit, is going to be through a continued/constant efforts to remove the obstacles that hinder its progress, also to activiate the role of the specialised commission to study the concept/idea of the union amongst the GGC countries .

The sources added that the union formulation amongst the six nation of the GGC will embark upon creating political, security, economic and military cooperation, in order to form the nucleus of the union, asserting that the union will not affect the sovereignty of the countries and their current political systems .

On the subject of Saudi Arabia and Bahrain, the sources said that the union between two countries, is going to be advanced through the declaration of joint military and security forces , in addition to a political consensus on the external level .

The sources also revealed that the position of The Sultanate of Oman is not to join/enter (into) the union, Whilst the Position of The United Arab Emirates is to deliberate and not to hurry/rush in that matter . The Gulf countries are in need for more time to succeed the union, and be beneficial for all .

يعقد قادة دول مجلس التعاون الخليجيقمة تشاورية في العاصمة السعودية الرياض اليوم الاثنين لبحث عدد من القضايا الإقليمية. وعقب اجتماع وزاري تحضيري للقمة مساء أمس، قال وزير خارجية البحرين الشيخ خالد بن أحمد آل خليفة إن القمة ستبحث مبادرة الملك السعودي بشأن الانتقال من مرحلة التعاون إلى الاتحاد، مؤكدا أن الموضوع يشمل كل دول الخليج.

وقد كشفت مصادر دبلوماسية خليجية للجزيرة نت عن أن القمة التشاورية لقادة دول المجلس ستعلن الاتحاد بين دول المجلس، مشيرة إلى أن هذه الخطوة قد تبدأ باتحاد متقدم بين المملكة العربية السعوديةومملكة البحرين.

وقالت المصادر إن صيغة الاتحاد التي ستعلن في القمة ستكون من خلال الاستمرار في المساعي لإزالة العقبات التي تعترض طريقه، وتفعيل دور اللجنة المختصة بدراسة فكرة الاتحاد بين دول المجلس.

وأضافت أن صيغة الاتحاد بين دول الخليج الست ستعمل على إنشاء هيئات سياسية وأخرى أمنية واقتصادية وعسكرية، وذلك لتشكيل نواة للاتحاد، مؤكدة أن الاتحاد لن ينال من سيادة الدول وأنظمتها السياسية القائمة حاليا.

وفي موضوع السعودية والبحرين، قالت المصادر إن الاتحاد بين الدولتين سيكون متقدما من خلال إعلان قيادات مشتركة عسكرية وأخرى أمنية، إضافة لتوافق سياسي على المستوى الخارجي.

وكشفت المصادر عن أن موقف سلطنة عمان هو عدم الدخول في الاتحاد، بينما كان موقف الإمارات العربية المتحدة هو التأني وعدم الاستعجال في الأمر، وحاجة الدول الخليجية إلى وقت أطول لينجح الاتحاد ويكون مفيدا للجميع.

As English is my third language I don't think I have the ability to judge your translation, but from my point of view, the text is correct, there is just a mistake in a name, it must be "Sheikh Khalid ibn Ahmad Al Khalifa"

On the subject of Gulf states union - once there were such news that they wanted to create single currency Gulf dinar? Whatever you call it.

it would be nice to see Yemen also united with Gulf states, because it needs more of oil money invested into its poor economiy, and it's the only country that will be left out if everybody else will be in union on Arabian peninsula, right?

I really have no idea about this union subject, but that's my mistake because I rarely follow any kind of news

hopefully, people in morocco stay calm and develop, may Allah save us from riots and protests!

Salam abu_dana and devanymfix,

Du-te avansat is Romanian and means Go to Advanced. We all have this button in Romanian. I suppose a Romanian created it when this forum started and forgot to translate it in English. If you look at spams that have been deleted (there are lots of them for example in the thread Wow, what a site I found on Arabic!!!) they are not marked with "This message has been deleted by X (name of the moderator)" but "Denne besked er blevet slettet af X" which is the same thing in Danish.

Also when you switch languages you don't get everything in French, Russian and so on. Most of it is in English. I suppose no one has taken the time to make a thorough translation from the beginning when admins and moderators were more active. Now it's only bernhard who does the administration things and most of all the people who still have the title of Super moderator have left the site long ago, although some of them log in sometimes but do not do any translations or moderations as far as I can see. So I guess we will have to live with this language mixture. There is just no one willing and available for that translation work.
