Default Swedish Song Lyrics to English

Hejjj alla. Hur mår dom? (Sorry if this is incorrect Swedish!)

Anyway, my friend sent me a Swedish hiphop song by a group called Snook. And I would like to know what the chorus means...

"nu ska jag ändra på mig
på tisdag ska jag flytta ut ur mig själv
och vända andra kinden dagen ska jag sänka blicken"

Tack så mycket!

I feel bad for taking over this forum section. It seems I'm the only one replying to threads these days.

Now to translating the lyrics:
"nu ska jag ändra på mig
på tisdag ska jag flytta ut ur mig själv
och vända andra kinden dagen ska jag sänka blicken"

"Now I will change myself
on Tuesday I will move out of myself
and turn the other cheek the day I will lower my gaze"

The last line is really strange since it makes no sense. It looks correct in my English translation, but in the Swedish version it wouldn't work as a single line. Anyway, if you liked Snook and haven't heard their hit "Mr Cool", I guess it could be interesting to check it out.

Hope the translation was good enough for you

Thanks a lot Franco, your time is greatly appreciated. The translation was exactly what I was looking for...

As for Snook, I have most of their songs. "Mr. Cool" is a fun one... But I like Lejonhjaerta the most.

Thanks again, I really appreciate it. Just another question... in the song chorus "sjaelv" is pronounced (in English) almost like Qualv? Or Kwaalv. I'm not sure how to write it. Does "sj" in Swedish make a "K" sounding noise? Thanks again!

Hello again!

The "sj" sound in Swedish is quite special and doesn't sound like a "k". I don't know any details about it, but wouldn't be surprised if it came from Arabic (same pronunciation can be found in the arabic name Khaled for example). I found a site on the net which has the definition of Swedish words as well as their pronunciation. Here is the page for the word "själv":

http://lexikon.nada.kth.se/cgi-bin/sve-sve

Click on the speaker just to the right of the word and, in case of a problem, try right clicking on it and pressing "Save target as". You can then play the saved file in winamp.

See you around

Default sj-sound

The sound for sj in själv, differs in different parts of Sweden. In northern Sweden they pronounce it sh as in shelf.

But in other parts they pronounce it like خ in Arabic (as in Khaled), just like Franco said. Like double-L in Welsh, G in Hollandic?, ch in German.

That would be Dutch. And it would be ch, as for in some parts of our country the g is pronounced differently.
