This man has no feeling.
I am a muslim but I had never talked or thinked silly things about christianism.
He talked about the jihad in islam.He didN't know what is islam.Islam always orders peace,not war,never.
The biggest sin in Islam is to kill a person.
The pope has no idea about islam.
He is so ignoramus.
If he wanna see something about vilonce,it's the last thing to check islam' history.He can check The history of christianism.The crusade.
Popes must get education.They must be educated.
If one people have no idea about somethnig he shouldn't talk about it.The pope hadn't leant that yet.
I wanna ask a question to the catholic people.Do you believe in this man?Do you have respect?HOW?

In fact, what the pope said were not his words. He quoted words of an emperor of Byzantium (= Constantinopel = Istambul now) of the 14th Century named Emperor Manuel II Palaeologis.

Today, I heard on the news that - by quoting those words - the Pope was looking for a way to communicate with the muslim world...

In my opinion, there are better ways to approach someone you want to communicate with...

When I first heard it in the news, I thought 'this can't be true. Is he that unrespectfull or undiplomatic or feelingless or what ?'. It made me sad.
Maybe he has never tried to learn more about other religions than his own. He is not a - how shall I put it - "wise" man, as I would expect a leader of the church to be.
The former pope seemed to be wiser..

When I heard about the reaction in the muslim world, it made me so sad.

I don't understand. We all want the same, don't we ? Religions are all about the same, isn't it ?

You know what, Exalted ? I don't want to think about it anymore. When I see the news on TV, it seems like everybody is going crazy. It's so stupid.

People should also learn to read from and listen to a pope. He made a theological speech which has to be replaced in its background (which actually ask a lot of cultural, historical and religious knowledge). You cannot wait for the pope to make a political discourse...

Although at this time Islam has to be clearly put apart terrorism, theologists (even and especially from other religions) try to understand why terrorists act in name of Islam. Why this religion?
I have often been reading recently that the fact that there is absolutely no intermediate between God and Humans may be a factor of prior importance (I mean God's rules go straight from God to you and /or anyone). I try to keep thinking about it, although I would be gald to share your points of view on that.

You know very well that the religion itself is peaceful.

The sad fact is, that some persons (important persons - persons with influence) use the religion to obtain what they want : power.

Wasn't it the same with the crusades ? Where in the old and new testament is written that christians had to kill to convert people to christianity ?
It was the important people at that time that ordered it.
NOT the religious books. So not the religion itself. The same goes for islam.

And no I'm not muslima. I just look beyond things. I look "further than the length of my nose" as we say in flemish.
And it's sad that we all - muslims and christians and whatever religions - stupidly play the horrible game those important people are playing with us.
Yeah, but what else would we do

? Live happily together ?

Anyway, that's the last thing I wanted to say about the subject. I don't want to think about it anymore.

would you prefer if we just isolated muslims?

Especially in North America, there is a lot of stereotyping towards Islamic people, and I do not believe it's fair. I agree, many people need to be educated.
