[b]What are your points about dialogue between religions? What is the definition for it? What aims should it serve? /B]

Understanding the common ground and getting rid of the myth that some are better than others.

My understanding from the concept dialogue is the reciprocal lenience and respect between religions (and also life philosophies that somehow can be counted as religious disciplines e.g. materialist existentialism) and trying to understand each other and examining each other before drawing conclusions. This doesnot mean a process of integration, but recognising the other side in a more healthy way.

And I think that we(mankind) should learn to be respectful to other people's views. And I also think that this concept is very crucial for the peace in the world. People should be more philosophical.

I agree, simply by 'forced intergration' people from different backgrounds and beliefs wont begin to appreciate each other.

I, like you, think that if we take a step back and really look at a different culture before coming up with opinions we stand to gain alot more.

BTW faraclit, I don't know that much about Turkey - what sort of ethnic and religious groups live there besides Turkish Muslims?

There are Kurdish Muslim people, Armenians, some Greeks and there is a Jewish community. And there are different subcultures of the Muslim culture such as Circassian people. And usually Turkship is not necesarily counted as an ethnic origin but, a union of same values such as religion, the historical experience union, and of course, the culture.

That's pretty diverse, I suppose Turkish people are in a position to talk about cultural discussion. Do you have alot of friends from different backgrounds?

Yes, I have friends whose second languages are Circassian and Kurdish, but, I donot have enough oppurtunity to interact with people whose religion is not Islam ( Armenians, Jews, other Christian affiliations). I have also friends who are influenced by Atheist, Marxist philosophies.
