Well, yes.. in Islam of course there is equality among men and women. But of course, as you know women need to be protected and one issue is as you know...physical appearance. It is very important, an image of a woman, to be seen or unseen of the flaws and the beauty is the woman herself to decide. So, this is actually a part in the aspect of modesty.
Not to discriminate women with flaws or to be carried away with such beauty, so as to save the image of a woman. Let the women decide. She has to weigh the consequences. But there is a guide line to oblige the integrity of a woman when she integrates herself in the society. I think it is sweeter to be modest in all aspect. I hope you understand what I am trying to say. Thank you. btw..Islam is always sweeter when you understand... |

? recommend you to search for ayats from Qur'an and from hadith. This way you will know the theoretical sources of veiling in ISLAM. Another point is that we can not say that something is wrong just for some people do not do it.
From a theological perspective, it is quite normal that there are failers and winners in this Examination (the wordly life).

If you would see two women walking side by side on the street...one half naked...the other wearing hijab and abaya.....which woman, you think men are more inclined to look after and think about sexual desires? Personally I woudn't want to have men whistle at me on the street.
