Hi!
My mother tongue is German, i already speak English, French and Spanish on a fairly high level. In five year´s time i can apply for my dream job, an international humantiarian oranisation- and it would be a huge advantage for me to be able to speak one of the following languages: Arabic, Russian, Chinese Mandarin or Portuguese It doesn´t make a difference for my employer, i think i could handle each one of them and i too have much time for the complexity of these languages. I know you can´t make this decision for me which one to learn- but i would love to hear your opinions! So- which one would you learn? Love, Lily |

Hi lily;
Considering the ranking of the most widely spoken languages in the world and your future job, I would chose Chinese Mandarin ....It also may depend on your own attraction for each of them though Hope it helps ![]() Cheers!!

Oh wow, that's great! I would choose Russian, purely because my husband is Ukrainian and speaks it fluently, I'd love to be able to speak to him in his native language more than a few words! Although I see any additional language as a benefit!

I would firstly say Chinese Mandarin considering it will be great opportunity to know this language.But,personally,i would choose Russian just because i like Russian's sound and its alphabet.

I've already been learning Finnish for about 3-4 years now, so I'd love to be fluent in that as I plan to live there. It probably wouldn't do any harm to learn Swedish either, as Finland is a bilingual country.

I'd say Portuguese won't take much time to learn it for you. I'm learning it too and its very easy when you're able to speak Spanish because the grammar is very very similiar to it. I'd say that the pronunciacion could confuse you a little bit at the beginng but it isn't really a problem.
If you have the time for the complexity of the languages I'd choose Arabic or Chinese Mandarin .. Depends on which kind of the world you're going to and if it's necessary where you'll be. |

I've learned the hard way that I have no knack for learning languages, but if I did: Japanese, Finnish, Irish and Scots Gaelic, and French. And maybe Esperanto because I feel sorry for it.
