Hi Lilly, I think your best bet is to stick to the "Major Language Groups". This way, no matter where you travel you should be able to make yourself understood.
Russian, Chinese, Arabic. Not Portuguese, as it is basically spoken in Portugal and Brazil. Unless, of course, you are planning on spending time there. An exception would be if you are interested in learning a "specialty language", which would give you an "edge" over others, if you knew in advance that you would be staying, for example, in Norway. Most people in the "Scandinavian Countries", on the other hand, have a relatively good command of the "English" Language(s). JW |

I am a native speaker of English but would like to learn Spanish (I know a little) and French. I would also like to learn Portuguese and some indigenous languages (Inuit and Quechua). Also, some classic Latin and Greek would be great.
