I'm sure between a so high number of users there is a PC's hardware expert!
I have a question for him/her.
Few month ago (3 or 4) my PC crashed, nothing on the screen. I thought, graphics card was died. The pc was old, so I find out an old card with some difficult, I put it inside and ..nothing changes. I find another type of card (ISA instead of AGP) because probably AGP's slot was died. No response.

I thought: Houston, we have a problem.
All the slot's section of the motherboard was died.

Take the car, bought a new little, simply and not expensive pc to substitute.

Some days ago, a storm was around, I switched off my pc and I disconnected the plug. Next day I switched it on but.... the same symptoms.
Its possible that my monitor (old CRT Philips 109s 19") send back to the pc's motherboard electric's impulses that electrocute it!?

I can't change another graphics card!!!!! But also I can't make another card electrocuted!!!!! Help meeeee!

Hi Snoopy,

I don't know if my help will solve your problem, also I'm not an expert in pc's hardware, but if you're speaking in a short-circuit probably it was your power supply which burnt.

I had a problem before with my old pc too, my power supply burnt because of a lamp which was near my desk, and one day I turned on the computer and it simply crashed, no sound, no image, nothing. In that time I had to replace the power supply and the fan.

I hope you can fix your pc soon, and my "story" helps you a little bit by founding out what's going on...

I'm not an hardware expert too, but I know how PC problem can be a pain!!....

The best way to avoid crashing another card or anything else is to test plugs and monitor with an ohmmeter if you have one...Did you try to connect your computer to another plug of your home??

I'm sure enough that is not a problem of plug. I use it also for my laptop, my hifi and so on...

I should try with an ohmmeter...yes, I can try...

Power supply isn't burnt because I can heard it while I switch on the pc.

More clues: I heard power supply and his fan; I heard primary hard drive; I heard secondary hard drive (because it has a little noisy fan!); Hard drive led (red and green) works; Monitor go black; No beep errors; BUT led on keyboard doesn't work...and this is so strange! Never happens in my hardware's problem experience!

Well.....So did you try to connect your monitor to another Central Processing Unit??.....Perhaps check it and make sure with an ohmmeter before....Otherwise, I'm afraid your motherboard or the grafics card is.....shot down.....I hope it isn't so....

Monitor works...I tryied it connected to my laptop!
Graphics card is died...I think it too but something in that keybord that doesn'd work (I mean, the leds!) make me crazy: its really strange!!!

Oh regarding your keyboard it should be not so serious....Perhaps it's silly but do you make sure that Num Lock or Caps.Lock keys are switched on?....Do you try to connect it to your laptop too?...
