Hey Real,
I think I can help you. I recently worked in the development of a great new innovative software for learning essential Mandarin. The Fluenz language programs combine common sense, solid linguistics and the latest technology to allow for the learning of what's truly relevant in the least amount of time. I think this would be perfect for you and get you right where you need to be to feel comfortable during your travels. Check out Fluenz, I'm sure it will be just what you are looking for. ![]() |

Hey I saw this thread and checked out that Fluenz software and it actually seems really cool. It is just what I have been looking for. Anyone else looking for a good software, that focuses on pinyin and gives you work with tones, should really check out the software at Fluenz, you can download the free demo and see for yourself how great it is.

I just ordered this software, it will be here tomorrow...but already the demo is better than anything i have see thus far. the from the format of the lessons, to the phrases taught to the workshops to reinforce everything. it combines the practicality of stuff taught in lessons like pimsleur with the cbt functionality of stuff like rosetta (i have a copy of rosetta mandarin 1&2 as well, haven't gone all the way through it yet, but side by side fluenz already seems way better...i could probably learn from either, but i cant wait to get the full version of this program)

The fluenz program has been great so far. Im on lesson 10 and while i am anxious to learn more vocabulary, i have been able to retain and actually use what i have learned - thinking of ways to say common daily things using the vocab/sentence structure i have learned...its awesome. and now i can actually understand much of what was trying to be taught in rosetta too :-)
As for CBT learning mandarin, its the best by far...there are a couple bugs in 1.0 that are very minor, but annoying going through the workouts, but 1.1 is out and should be here soon so hopefully they caught some of those. |
