Do you think it's safe if I take my child for a short trip (less than 10 days) to Europe, just mother and child, travelling on our own instead of joining a tour? The last time I was in Europe was 1994, and I know it's several worlds now from that time. I'd been travelling around Europe for several weeks all alone, but the world was much safer at that time. Another concern is immigration, it may not let us enter. I've just read the news of sex slave auctions at the airport. My child is pretty and very young (almost 5), that's my concern. What do you think?

What country(ies) will you be travelling through?

As soon as you have a go and back flight ticket a job situation etc etc in your country you have no reason to be considerd as a potential illegal immigrant.
I think you are 100% safe, and in case you would come to Paris (or france) I would be glad if I can help anyway

I agree with FD : as long as you stay in Western Europe, you're absolutely safe. I don't know much about Eastern Europe, but it certainly depends on which country you'd like to visit.

And I'll be glad to help you too if you go to France !

how old is your child - sometimes it is not a question safe or not but washed-out or not, because the child need imperativly and always some things that adult can live without for 10 days
to be with a group or with somone else, another adult means also - help in case of urgency or simply to take 5 minutes break

Hello, everybody,

My child is almost 5. I'm a housewife and don't have a job, so I'm afraid I may have problem with immigration if I'm not with a tour, but I don't like travelling with a tour when in Europe. I have economic proofs and my hubby's working condition, and maybe my child's education situation. The British and French immigration are very strict and suspicious, even if you've got a visa. I haven't had a trip for some years, and the air ticket is still not expensive in June. I don't have any plan in mind, maybe Asia, maybe Europe, depending on the price. Just by thinking upon it is scary, since I'm not alone now, having a child to take care. I do have France in mind, thanks for your hospitality in advance. And the sex slave trade is a serious problem, and I'm afraid my child may become a target (she's young and pretty). Still thinking, my hubby may object to it.

If 10 days is too much, say 3 or 4 nights, there're many good valued packages in June. Wondering if I have the guts to do it.

I don't think you'll have problems with the French immigration : you're from Hong Kong, your husband stays there and apparently has a good job, you travel with a young child... Besides, there are more and more Chinese tourists here, so there's no reason of suspecting you of being an illegal immigrant. They would have had more reasons to suspect you last time you came, for you were alone...!

As for your child, I don't think either she would be especially in danger. Sex slave traffic is an exageration in Western Europe, children are not kidnapped everyday in the street and as long as you watch after her, as you do everyday in the streets of Hong Kong I'm sure , there will be absolutely no risk for her.

My hubby said "no". If I'm going with my daughter I must go with a tour. I've checked the prices, they're not as cheap as I thought.
