YES I FIND IT FUNNY....
because we have to laugh about erything because if we don't do it we could never accept the reality... Subjects and problems are serious...it's a fact...and it's because i am informed it's because i try to make my possible in my life to fight against those thing..that i permit myself to laugh about...an it's not because we laugh about something that we certainly think that is not serious or dramatic... a french writter (and humorist most of the time) "we can laugh about everything but not with anybody" PIERRE DESPROGES he is definately right

And what about if your country had been bombed, attacked, or banned for economical and political reasons, would you still be laughing at it? What about losing your family? I don't know how can you react that way... I have been living in America (yes the continent!) since the day I was born, and I have seen how the US installed several dictatorships during the 60's and 70's, and many people died for that. Why don't you go to Africa, Asia or America and show the bloody map to those who don't have internet to utter their voices here? And after that, see how many of them smile at it... ah no... we're "grumpy and so serious"... We're supposed to watch Friends, The Simpsons and smile every time... It's sad... so sad...

it's only a joke..
I probably react in the same way as you if it was serious... you have also to make difference between humour and reality...it's a funny description of reality...it's not true, of course.. but i think your reaction is a little bit too much in seing what it is...nationalism..proudness?? i don't know...but it's easy to say if you were in my place you would react like this too...i guess no because sometimes it's also nice to joke about things!

And to answer your questions, I'm not a nationalist. I like my country, but there are several things that I dislike about Chile, and if I had the chance to live abroad, I would take it. Proud? I don't think so... but this thinking comes from me, so you might think it's pretty close, but I'm not ashamed to acknowledge my mistakes, blunders, etc. And I have done it in this forum, about languages and translations. Anyway, If I was proud... what could be the worst thing about it? Shouting? Getting angry? In no case I would use that proud to invade other countries, to kill people... I'm sorry "Terrorists"... In the name of freedom, peace or whatever. That's what I call "Too much". Sometimes jokes could do more harm than reality itself.

I would like as to ask two questions to Mr. Alonso:
1) With all respect sir, you make it sound as if the USA is the only country in history to have ever done anything wrong. Do you honestly believe that ? 2) Tell me honestly, what was your initial emotion (not your political reaction) at the very moment you heard about the attacks here of September 11, 2001 ? Merci en avance et je suis certain que vous serez sincere dans vos reponses. |

1) No, I don't think so, but here we're talking about a map describing how the USA see the world, and for that reason, I only spoke about USA. 2) I was at college at that time, in class, so, I didn't hear anything until I got home and I saw the attack on the news, and honestly, I first felt surprised, shocked, like What the hell??? . But then I began to understand the facts very well, and I think today, few people can still believe all the "Osama Bin Laden and friends" propaganda... Do you still think that guy was responsible for the attacks? I don't know if you come from USA or not, but if you do, I would be very upset about Mr. Bush and his fellows if I were you, for fooling you all with this, one of the biggest frauds in history.
