But I have no problem in searching for Tibet with google. I have problems with searching others, though. I once searched for something very common, but got only 1 irrelevant search result. I've got lots of results with yahoo, and I think excite is even better. From my experience, the results of yahoo search are advertisers-oriented, the more money you pay, the topper-most your website will rank.
FUNNY. Bernhard, have you just created a new thread for this? I typed this post in the "Tibet" thread. ![]() Last edited by chinoise; 04-11-2006 at 07:39 AM. |

Hi, I moved your post to make an own thread, as Search engines are my domain I ll give you some precisions, and if you want, you can ask other questions about search engines here or in a new topic.
Yahoo: pay attention to the "sponsored links" that are ads, and yes, it is possible to pay to have better listnings in Yahoo, and the sites that are in the Yahoo directory (500$) are better listed as well. And for me, it does not filter spam as well as google for example. In the video (see topic "Where is tibet"), it is about Google earth Final little suggestion, if you dont like ads : use firefox : http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/ and the extension adblock plus : http://adblockplus.mozdev.org/ Both are free and very efficient All search engine have to deal with spam, and it is not always easy, if you are interested, the blog of one Google engineer : http://www.mattcutts.com/blog/ |

Thanks, Bernhard.
Once I tried Yahoo search looking for something, all I got was at least 5 listings of the same site at the topper listing, then I tried excite and found better ones, which I couldn't find with Yahoo. I've also seen people finding nothing with Google. So. the most popular one is not always the best. Btw, what is google earth? ![]() |

hi
I know that Google or yahoo work differently. The first one gives you the most popular website first. So, more your website is visited more it is up. I think Yahoo count the number of links in other websites. I don't no if you understand my answer ![]() And for google you can paid to be at the right or at the top of the page too (like yahoo) I don't think one is better than other because it depends what you search. berb newbie edit: In france we use generally only one search engine, in usa they use 5 differents. So we have only one suggestion
