Flowers can be romantic, but not if the bunch of flowers always comes in a huge size, esp in Hong Kong, and very expensive, min. 50 euros on Valentine's day, and 30 euros for the rest of the year. A small bunch of flowers just doesn't exist in Hong Kong. By huge, I mean you can cover the upper half of your body with it. Each flower, e.g. a rose, is wrapped in colour wrap and sash and net etc, and with extra wrapping as a whole, with a big bow, which is the usual standard wrapping style for a bouquet here. Some may come in a basket and with chocolates, or with a cake. I don't think it's romantic, but more a showing off. The bouquet is often sent by a messenger to the office where the lady works, and the usual response of those who see it is "Wow!", and admiration.
Anyway, the receiver will be very happy for the rest of the day. The kinds of flowers chosen for the bouquet are always huge, eg., roses, lilies, huge crysanthemums, and the tiny ones are merely for decoration. So, sending flowers here is solely reserved for special occasions. |
