WE MUST PLAY THE HAND WE ARE DEALT
Inherent behavior is an opportunity, not a liability. Genetic factors predispose some people more than others to particular types of physical illness. Certain individuals are simply more susceptible to infections or disease, for example. Our physical health is relative, meaning it can be dependent on factors over which we may have little or no control. Another feature of the human body is its constant state of physical tension, minor though it may be. For example, "relaxed" muscles and tendons are always in some state of suspension. Organs of the body are constantly functioning to some degree. The alert mind, while instinctively in a state of ongoing readiness, is predisposed to certain kinds of behavior. Some people are naturally stimulated while in the midst of others; however, there are those whose energy comes from quiet withdrawal into their own world of inner reflection. Some of us are mostly influenced by our five senses, while others are guided most by the intuitive "sixth sense." Logical analysis drives many people, while feelings is a deciding influenced used by others. And there are those who want to be always decisive, and their counterparts seek flexibility in what they do. Behavioral science emphasizes the importance of recognizing these inherent differences in behavior for what they are: as functioning personalities, each with its own set of unique traits. SELF-EXPLORATORY QUESTIONS: Have you tried to change a trait because your saw it as a liability?
