I've heard some of her songs when i was very young, but i only know her name very recently as she's going to my country to hold a concert. I'm just invited to her concert by my friends, I think I need to do some research about her.

How do French see her today?
Is she still popular?
Which of her songs are most famous?
Which singers in English world can be comparable to Kaas?

...hmm... seems that nobody is interested in the post.

I just got back from Kaas' Concert and she was really good tonight. To my surprise, I never knew there's such a huge french speaking population in Hong Kong but many of us can sing together with her.

When Kaas had came to the stage, she simply said "parlez vous francais?" and switch back to English. But as audiences can sing most of her songs, it seemed that she believed that most of us can really parler francais and she spoke more and more french. An interesting night for me.

despite i am french i have to admit that i don't know Kaas very much but some people do know her ... i prefer thousands of time Bud Powell's

Hey FD, I want to learn more about Bud Powell too! But it seems that Bud Powell is a pianoist (from google). Did he sing any songs? Can you suggest some of his popular songs to me?

Learning french vocab by songs is my favourite.

well actually Bud Powl is a jazz piano player from the USA, in the 40s ... i just love his music but it is not french at all moreover he never sang

If I had to recommend you a french singer I would say Yves Montand (les feuilles mortes, Battling Joe, le telegramme, A Paris, A bicyclette... are some of his most famous songs), I can send you a sample song from him via email if you want

Thanks for the great recommendation. Yves est tres magnifique! I just got Les feuilles mortes, et Ca me fait quelque chose.

Though Bud Powell is not a french singer, mais J'ecoute Cleopatra's Dream de Bud Powell et ce me plait aussi!

I think we have very similar taste for music. Aimez Vous Eddy Mitchell? Can you name more french singers you like?

despite i like Yves Montand pretty much, I am fond of jazz music rather than french music, I am sorry I think I am not the person who could tell you the best about french singers

Though if you like jazz as well i'll be glad to make you discover more
