HUNDRED OF CHINESE NUMERIC WORDS
When 0 is in a multi-digital number, the 0 represents 10n So in we call ten 10 in Chinese “Shie”, as we draw it [十]or capital [拾], sometimes because twenty 20 is called “Er Shie” [二十](in Chinese the [二十] means and pronounces in English style two-ten, actually it is 2×10), we call ten 10 also as [一十] (Jie Shie) (in Chinese the [十] or [一十] means and pronounces in English-like style ten or one-ten, actually it is 10 or 1×10). Then we call 30 [三十] “San Shie” three-ten; 40 [四十] (Sie Shie) four-ten; 50 [五十] (Woo Shie) five-ten; 60 [六十] (Leu Shie) six-ten; 70 [七十] (Txi Shie) seven-ten; 80 [八十] (Ba Shie) eight-ten; 90 [九十] (Giu Shie) nine-ten; 100 [一百] (Jie Bye) one-hundred 101 [一百零一] (Jie Bye Ling Jie) one-hundred-zero-one 110 [一百一十] (Jie Bye Jie Shie) one-hundred-one-ten 121 [一百二十一] (Jie Bye Er Shie Jie) one-hundred-two-ten-one 200 [二百] (Er Bye) two-hundred 1,459 [一千四百五十九] (Jie Qcien Sie Bye Woo Shie Giu) one-thousand-four-hundred-five-ten-nine |

Chinese one to ten counting is very easy and Children can grasp is at the age of 4. Usually before they can write these nubmers, they must learn to speak them out.
Pinyin: yi er san si wu liu qi ba jiu shi In fact we Chinese don't care the tones so much, when we use pinyin to note the pronunciation of any words, we just write Roman letters usually. If you do not speak it or learn by Audial materials, it's thinkably hard! |

Chinese numbers are in decimal system. They have the following features:
1. Ten or Eleven Basic Numbers : ○(0)、一(1)、二(2)、三(3)、四(4)、五(5)、六(6)、七(7)、八(8)、九(9)、 十(10)。 2. after ten, Chinese numbers use the same ascending method, that is to add the basic numbers upon the previous number, like十一(11)、十二(12)、…十九(19) until 二十(20)。In fact, you can replace all the Arabic numbers one by one with Chinese numbers, like, 1,894= 一八九四, but this method is not usually taken in speaking, it’s used in archives or dictionary and index。 |

My first lesson is cardinal and ordinal numbers, it seems soooo easy so far, thanks Pluipoco,
so if I want to say I was born in the year 一千九百七十九 is it the correct order for 1979? and I have 二十六 years for 26 ? I'm just trying to test myself ![]()
