Because of originality...
In my area, the most popular languages that people take in school are Spanish and French. So, because those are the most popular, that left them out for me. I'm a non-conformist. Plus, with the string of illegal immigrants coming to the States, mostly from Mexico, the politically correct crowd seems to be shoving Spanish down our throats at every corner, and the more anyone tries to force something on me, the more I resist it. I guess you could say I have a bit of a rebellious nature. Icelandic is one of the oldest modern European languages around. I have heard that it's almost mutually intelligible with Old Norse. And I guess I'm weird, but I like the idiomatic nature of Gaelic... Dé tha ceàrr air Gàidhlig co-dhiù? 'S toigh leamsa i. Is i a' chànan as fheàrr leam. Co-dhiù, có mheud duine tha Gàidhlig aige? Chan eil móran, tha mi a' smaoineachadh. Tha Gàidhlig Albannach aig mu 50,000 daoine ann an Alba. Tha i aig beagan duine ann an Alba Nuadh cuideachd.
