Hi,

Can anyone help me out. I'm trying to work out what "rinnastuu" means (3rd person singular i think) as in the phrase "Kautta romaanin muisteleminen rinnastuu maalaamiseen" (google search results, mustekala.kaapeli.fi/mustekala/1077186468/index_htm)


It has me stumped (stuck)

I admit now that this is for a commercial translation, so if this "post" breaks the forum rules I apologise now (I understand from a quick look at the rules that if is less than 20 words or an expression it is okay...which I think is very reasonable....is that correct?)

Sorry I know that translation is pretty crappy. Anyway, it means that the novel says remembering is just like painting.
That sentence is so weird that it took even for me many seconds to realize what the heck does it mean :D. It should say "romaanin kautta", not in the other way around. And I think it would sound better if there have read "rinnastetaan" (passive) not "rinnastuu".


I'm just curious: why did you move into Finland?
