Hi everybody.
Let's talk about our country's musical genders. I'll start with samba an then you can talk about a kind of music that only exists in your country, so we can get to know more of each other's musical culture. So... as I said, in Brasil we have samba. It's probably the most popular kind of music in the country and lots of other musical genders came from it. When samba is used as a verb, it reffers to the dance you dance with it. You basically move your feet (in a way that's hard to explain) acording to the song's rithim. The lyrics can be about anything. At the last dictatorship, intelectuals wrote samba lyrics talking about the country's situation, but they used poetic resources so the government wouldn't notice what they were talking about. It's from that period that the best samba songs come from (that's my opinion). I'm not a huge fan of samba, but it's good to samba when you're at a party or something, and I think samba really reflects brazilian culture. |
