Learn how some fruit are named in Portuguese...

FRUIT / FRUTAS

acerola, Barbados cherry - acerola **very very rich in vitam C**
apple - maçã
apricot - damasco**expensive here because we import it**
avocado - abacate
banana - banana
- dwarf banana - banana nanica
- silk banana - banana-maçã
- sugar banana - banana-ouro
- lady's finger banana - banana-prata
- plantain - banana-da-terra
cashew - caju
cherry - cereja
coconut - coco
date - tâmara- **the same as apricot**fig - figo

grapefruit - pomelo, toranja

I saw so many accents there, I still don't know how to prunounce words with those accents :-(

Well...accents like ..
ã (~)its name is til - comes from the nose...this is the most difficult cos i guess there is no other similar...but think about an I hard English sound as in BIrd coming from the nose lol.
é (agudo) it makes the vowel sound be more stressed ....like the sound of Apple
ê (circunflexo) makes a vowel become soft - like in BAby
ç (' under the c = cedilha) makes the difference between letter C (k sound) and Ç like in voiCE- cedilha appears only in ÇA - ÇO - ÇU (you do not put it in CE / CI)
Now lok the name of this fruit MAÇÃ (apple) - It has cedilha ç and ~til )
