Default False cognates from English to Brazilian Portuguese

Olá a todos!! This time I would like to show you all about some words in English which are very similiar to Portuguese ones, but they have a completly different meaning... Let`s see some of them..

ENGLISH WORD PORTUGUESE SIMILAR WORD REAL MEANING:
PUSH puxe pull
PULL empurre push
PRETEND pretender intend
INTEND entender understand
ACTUALLY atualmente (ly -adverb sufix = mente in PT) nowadays
ATTEND atender answer (the phone for eg.)
CIGAR cigarro cigarette
COLLAR colar necklace
COLLEGE colégio / colegial school / high school
PREJUDICE prejuízo damage
IDIOM idioma language
LECTURE leitura reading
LUNCH lanche snack
MAYOR maior bigger / the biggest
NOVEL novela soap opera
PROFESSOR professor teacher/ professor
REALIZE realizar make things come
true / possible
SELVAGE selvagem wild
TENTATIVE tentativa trial
TRAM trem train

I noticed that you wrote some words that are considered false cognates (faux amis) even in French,
ACTUALLY doesn't mean Actuellement (at the present time or like you said nowadays)
REALIZE doesn't mean Réaliser (make things come true / possible)

Yes, Salim... I do not speak French but I heard this language has some similarities with Spanish and Portuguese.
