Just a correction:

Carioca is someone who is born in Rio de Janeiro City.
Fluminense is someone who is born in the State of Rio de Janeiro.

Carioca doesn't change it's form for gender:

Ele é carioca.
Ela é carioca.

Fluminense is the same too:

Ele é fluminense.
Ela é fluminense.

But people from other states, especially from São Paulo think it is the opposite way and call people from the State of rio "carioca", because of football matches, as we have one team called "fluminense" so people call the State Championship "Campeonato Carioca" (Championship = campeonato).

Oh I see Carioca! Big mistake endeed!! You know.. when I was writing that post I was in doubts because I remember to have heard something about it before so I checked it on the net ahahaha lol ...
