Hey,
one more time I need your help en portugues: Got a problem with the times. I don't know, how to WRITE them: Is it : a) Vou ao cinema às quartas horas. or: b) Vou ao cinema à quarta hora. And: Do you have to add "hora(s)" or is it redundant? Thanks! |

Hello "Força Barcelona"!
It´s easy to express times in Portuguese. We don´t say "às quartas or à quarta hora(s)", but "Vou ao cinema às quatro horas". You don´t need to form the plural, according the noun "horas". Here´s some examples to express and/or write times: É meio-dia. (It is midday) - 12.00 É meia-noite. (It is midnight) - 12.00 É uma hora. (It is 1 o'clock) - 1.00 (You use only the singular when expressing this time). São duas horas. (It is 2 o'clock) - 14.00 São três horas. (It is 3 o'clock) - 3.00 São quatro horas. (It is 4 o'clock) - 4.00 etc... São nove horas da manhã. (It is 9 o'clock in the morning) É uma hora da tarde. (It is 1 o'clock in the afternoon) São oito horas da noite. (It is 8 o'clock in the evening) É uma hora da manhã. (It is 1 o'clock in the morning) To express times in Portuguese check this site (I hope it helps you): Portuguese lessons - Time See you! sflor PS: Generally, we add "hour" or "hours" ... it´s not redundant, but from time to time, we also say (but I think it´s an easy and abbreviated way to express times when we´re late for a meeting, for example ):- Que horas são? (What time is it?) - São duas. (It is 2 (o´clock).)

I´m glad you got it! Let me explain one more thing which can be very useful to you in the future :If you´re a man you´ll say "Muito obrigado" when speaking with a man or a woman. If you´re woman you´ll say "Muito obrigada" when speaking with a man or a woman and... (you´re welcome!) Whenever you need, please feel free to ask ! Good Luck with your Portuguese exam and "Forza"!!! Saludos, sflor
