Default Russe-Franзais Mystйrieuse lettre de famille

Bonjour а tous!

Merci beaucoup!
Cйline

It's sort of verse... It seems your great-grandmother was a poet ;-). Unfortunately, her handwriting is not really clear, so it will take time to "decode" some words ;-). Right at the moment I don't have time for this, but if nobody makes translation before me, I'll do it on the weekend.

Thanks for your answer catlovesjam! I hope you will find some entertainment reading it.
For me im so curious and impatient to know more about my great-grandmother! She died when my grandmother was 2 years old so we dont know much about her. Her name was Magdalena Spevakova, born in 1910, daugther of general Spevakov, living in Verkneoudinsk, Siberia. They flee from Siberia in 1917 and lived in Romania. In 30 she came alone in Belgium and found my great-grandfather. I wonder what these poems are...
There are 3 other pages if you or somebody find it interesting...

And thanks to the one who moved my message in the right discussion... I didnt regognize the cyrillic characters... Thank you!

Well… I’ve got some minutes to look over the letter… Some words are really impossible to read, so I can just guess what they may be. Anyway, I’m 98% sure that I guessed right ;-). The letter looks like a dilettante verse, as I know, in the past it was popular entertainment for educated girls and women. Below I typed what I understood from hand-written text in Russian, and my attempt to translate it. My translation is not 100% correct, because any poems and verses are very difficult for translation, since some words there are placed just to build right sounds... Perhaps, somebody will correct my translation later. Anyway, here are both - the poem and my variant of translation:

[Once in Spring, at Sunday]
[To our great delight]
[From Brussels, for no particular reason]
[Lucy Berljand arrived]

[Lida left her studies]
[and started kissing Lucy]
[Then she decided that it’s all the same]
[and took her {Lucy} to the cinema]

[They visited Sarrah and her brother]
[But did not stay there]
[And then they three together went ]
[to walk before sleeping]

[At night Lucy slept bad]
[Perhaps her bed was cramped]
[But we don’t know that exactly]
[since we did not sleep with her together]

[Next day they came to us]
[Just for a second]
[We laughed a lot for a long time]
[We were astonished at Lucy’s singing]
[And we decided that ]
[there is no other girl like her.]

[Unluckily there was Kolja {Nicola},]
[Well, everything is on God’s will]]
[He caught it hot]
[though he was there for a short time]

[In short, she flurried everyone,]
Многих в гости пригласив, [ invited many people to visit her]
[Lucy Berljand said good-bye]
[and got back home to Brussels]

In the text there are some mistakes, which were made just to make words sound in right rhythm of the verse, so I did not correct them. And there are a lot of punctuation mistakes (I tried to correct them all in my typing).

Please, if you have time to continue... or if you are curious... For me it is wonderful to know how she thought.

I'll surely try to translate all the rest textes, but it will take some more time, because these days I have too much work to get finished. Anyway, I saved textes on my comp, so as soon as I've got a free minute, I'll translate them for you.

Thanks catlovesjam! You know, its a great emotion for me and my grandmother. Her mother died when she was 2 years old, so every information is very precious. The song describes a day of my great grandmother with her friends. Lida was the godmother of my grandmother. Its is wonderful to read something written about them.
