выдумал и придумал

Hi!
Is there ever any difference in meaning between выдумал and придумал?

I was wondering since I saw them used together - 'he выдумал и придумал a plot.'

Выдумать refers to an invention, to invent something while "придумать" means ''to think up'',to find a solution(untouchable).
Anyway,Russian is a language in which the verbal meaning depends on the context used

eg:
Выдумка - ироничная (оценочная) форма для нейтрального вымысел.
А вот придумка - хорошее и приятное на слух словечко. Конструктивное

Anyways,both can have the same meaning,but Выдумать can be used to criticize
Не выдумывай = don't lie !
