There's a rule in russian, that the letter ю cannot come after the letter ч.
I know there are some ecxeptions, like чюдо and чюма. there's also чюбака, but it's not a russian word. I am looking for more exceptions (+translation). thank you very much. |

No ,there is no way ю can come after ч. This is a common mistake, and the correct word is Чудо.
It is a common writing mistake, like сердцэ instead of сердце, хорошый instead of хороший and so on. |

There is no exceptions for the letter "þ" after "÷". There is a rule : after letters "æ, ÷, ø, ù " one must write vowels "à, ó, è". And you can never write vowels "ÿ, þ, û". But there are three exceptions from this rule: these are words "æþðè, ïàðàøþò, áðîøþðà". They came into Russian language from French. All the rest words follow the rule with no other exceptions. Please don't mix Russian pronunciation and Russian spelling, they may be absolutely different.
Just forgot: there are also three exceptions for "û" after "ö": öûãàí, öûïë¸íîê, öûêàòü. Last edited by catlovesjam; 07-15-2008 at 04:41 PM. |

Yes, öûïë¸íîê is a chick. Öûêàòü means to say "hush!". Öûãàí is a gipsy.
As for the adults that led you astray, I don't know, may be they are not Russians, may be they don't really know the Russian language.

There are a lot of Russians who doesn't know well how to spell Russian words, though it is really a surprise that they did not know spelling of such a simple word as "÷óäî". Well, maybe they just made fun of you? Anyway, whatever is the reason, better don't trust their lessons in future ;-). Or at least consult dictionaries after you hear something from them ;-).
P.S. Seriously, some people can be wrong in spelling. One of my best friends is Canadian, he is very well educated top-manager, but he always spelled the word "fragrance" as "fragNance" ;-), and he learnt how to write this word in correct way only after I said him right spelling ;-). So in reality everyone can make mistakes, me including! ;-) |
