It is with great interest that I read the offer of use of Associate Curator suggested by The Menil Collection. Conscious of not having all experience necessary for the station with being able, I think nevertheless of being able to take up the duties of them. Currently in the course of obtaining a DEA "Sciences of Art and Language" at the EHESS of Paris, I acquired these last years a general training in anthropology and philosophy which I continue to enrich regularly. In addition, I quickly devoted myself to aesthetic anthropology, impassioning me for the study of non-Western forms to which the majority of my research relate. Thus, my MA's dissertation dealed with forms produced in some arts of Sepik, New Guinea's area where I would wish to be able to carry out a survey of ground later on if my candidature were retained. My interest for the questions of aesthetics also equipped me with a solid general culture in history of art, setting with profit this year for my thesis of DEA. This one relates to the study of the relations between "work of art" and "document", problems which interest closely those inherent in the museum. If I thus think of having knowledge necessary to take up the duty of associate curator for The Menil Collection, I would like to also put forward some competences of rigour and capacity of work acquired at the time of my classes of higher mathematics. Before devoting me to the social sciences, I indeed followed a high level scientific course leading to an admission to the “Ecole Centrale”, one of the best engineering faculty in France. This is why I estimate to be able to conclude the missions that one to me would entrust, in particular those which could raise of studies comparative and classifying, which already allowed me to distinguish me in my university work in France.

In addition, I also pursued studies in aesthetic anthropology, which impassioned me for the study of non-Western art forms, to which the majority of my research relates. Thus, my MA dissertation dealt with various art forms created in Sepik, the region of New Guinea where I would like to undertake more research, on the condition that my stipend or candidature were continued. My interest in the questions of aesthetics also equipped me with a solid background in art history, which in turn has enriched my DEA thesis for this year. The subject of this thesis is the relationship between “work of art” and “document,” which are topics that are closely related to the work of the museum. I believe that I possess not only the knowledge necessary for the position of associate curator of the Menil Collection, but also I have completed advanced courses in higher mathematics. Before dedicating myself to the social sciences, I pursued the course of study in the sciences required for admission to the “Ecole Centrale,” which is one of the best engineering schools in France. For these reasons, I feel that I am competent to fulfill the requirements of this job, in particular those that involve comparative and classification studies, in which I have already distinguished myself in my university work in France.
