Oui et non. Oui, parce que ça se dit, et non, parce que votre phrase comporte une faute majeure, notamment le 'being', qui est de trop. La bonne tournure serait donc "She aims at getting the readers aware of the American Government abuses".

Sinon, moi, je préfère "She aims at sensitizing the readers about the abuses by the American Government".

"Informing readers" means "informer les lecteurs", while "faire prendre conscience" means "sensitize". Also, "abuses made" is translated into "les abus commis", while "abuses by the Government" means "les abus du Gouvernement".
