Je vais bientôt passer à l'oral devant ma classe pour présenter une publicité Benetton en Anglais. J'ai essayé d'obtenir un bon anglais mais je ne sais pas si tout est juste :

Hello Everyone !
Here is my document. It’s an ad but I suppose that you know all which is the brand which made this ad. It’s of course a Benetton advertissement found on Internet. It was published in September 1991 and is entitled “Angel and Devil”.

The background is white to highlight the two small girls.
Firstly, the girl on the left handside has curly blonde hair and blue eyes. She has large red cheeks. We can see a hole in the middle of its teeth. She has that is called the teeth of happiness, which make its face more angelica and merry. This small girl looks happy and innocent : it’s the angel.
Secondly, the girl on other side has black hair and its skin is also very dark. The left handside of its face is completely black. We see only his eye. Its face is so very dark, contrary to the face of the other small girl. She has large lips and large eyes which give an impression of anxiety and misfortune. There are two horns in its hair: she represents the devil on this photograph.
The two children are bare-chested and stare at the at the camera. We are more touched by the ad because they look at us.
On the right handside we see finally the symbol of the Benetton brand : “United Colors of Benetton”. The letters are white on green background.

This image illustrates our current society. Indeed, whites are perceived like the « nice » whereas blacks are seen like the « nasty ». We understand so the comparison with angel and devil.
Moreover, the face of the black girl shows her sadness contrary to the face of the other girl where we can read his happiness. It’s the sad reflection of reality : whites don’t know poverty or war, they live in the joy whereas blacks generally know famines or social problems like racism or war. The slogan of the brand : “United Colors of Benetton” constitutes already an antiracism message.
At second thought, one may wonder if this ad criticizes the stereotypes with the caricature of Angel and Devil or the sad life of the blacks. It shows in any case the differences between people of different colors.
Don’t you find sad the fact that we have different lives according to our skin colour ? Yet some people find that natural… And it’s for that that Benetton publishes this kind of “intelligent” ad which make us think.
This advertissement also makes fun of the stereotypes which these people have. These stereotypes constitute the problem of racism. It’s appalling… All that for a color, an origin which doesn’t reflect their country….
