when I immigrated to Kenya I had a lot to adjust to in life, my difficulties in fitting in, a new culture, a new language, finding new friends and getting used to this new climate. When I arrived at the airport I felt nervous and sad at leaving because I knew that I'd not see my friends anymore, and if I did return one day, that they would have all grown up without me and that made me sad.
When I arrived at my new house I was impressed by its beauty. When I got to my new school no one paid attention to me which was very hard, I was even insulted because of my skin color, since I am a white person from Great Britain, but that wasn't all. Their culture was very different from ours, for example, polygamy, which doesn't exist in England. I had a lot of trouble with the weather because it is much hotter than in Great Britain and it is very hard to bear, there was sand everywhere even in my food, which was very unpleasant to deal with. I wanted to go back to England but my parents told me to relax and be patient. Indeed, after struggling to adapt to Kenya, I ended up making friends and getting accustomed to this beautiful country and to speaking their language. I lived as I did in Great Britain, enjoying life, and all of this in less than 2 years. |
