Notre professeur d'anglais nous a donné quinze phrases de thème grammatical à faire pour lundi prochain, et j'aurais aimé que vous puissiez corriger ma proposition de traduction (tant au niveau des points grammaticaux abordés dans chaque phrase que dans le caractère "idiomatique" de ma langue). Thank you in advance !

1) Elle vient d’adresser une demande écrite au directeur, il a une place de caissière qui est vacante. Si on lui demande de se présenter, veille à ce qu’elle s’habille convenablement pour la circonstance.
 She has just sent a written application to the manager, he has a job as a cashier which is vacant. If she’s requested to introduce herself/apply, make sure that she’s suitably dressed for the occasion.

2) Ils ont prévu leur voyage de façon à faire coïncider leur séjour à Venise avec le carnaval.
 They have planned their trip in order to match their stay in Venice to/with the carnival.

3) Membre du M.L.F., la nouvelle secrétaire n’accepte pas de faire le thé pour son patron ; elle lui a suggéré qu’ils pourraient le faire à tour de rôle.
 A member of the Women’s Liberation Movement, the new secretary doesn’t agree to make tea for her boss ; she has suggested (to) him that they could/should make it in turn.

4) Au fur et à mesure qu’ils avançaient le long du sentier, la neige devenait de plus en plus épaisse.
 As they were walking along the path, the snow was getting thicker and thicker.

5) Il sait se rendre utile partout où il va, c’est pourquoi il est aimé de tous.
 He knows how to make himself useful wherever he goes, that’s why everybody likes/loves him OR that’s why he’s loved/liked by everybody.

6) Ils ne méritent rien, jamais plus nous ne les aiderons.
 They don’t deserve anything, we shall never help them again.

7) Il n’est pas complètement rétabli : je l’ai vu sortir de la pièce en boîtant.
 He hasn’t completely recovered : I saw him leaving the room limping OR I saw him limping out (of) the room.

8) On lui a dit d’aller jusqu’au bureau de poste puis de tourner à droite. C’est ainsi qu’elle est arrivée devant un bâtiment rébarbatif où elle devait passer vingt ans de sa vie à taper à la machine des lettres et des factures.
 She was told to go as far as the post office, then to turn right. That’s how she arrived outside a forbidding building where she was to spend twenty years of her life typing letters and bills.

9) En entrent dans la chambre du banquier, l’inspecteur Stanford voulut savoir pourquoi le tableau qu’il avait vu près de la fenêtre avait été enlevé.
 On coming into the bankers bedroom, inspector Stanford wanted to know why the painting that he had seen near the window had been removed.

10) Il est notoire que l’accroissement des loisirs pourrait entraîner d’importantes difficultés sociales et psychologiques.
 It is common knowledge/an acknoledged fact that the increase in leisure/spare-time activities could/might bring about/entail important social and psychological difficulties.

11) « Pouvez-vous me dire combien on vous a fait payer ce rang de perles ? » « En fait, ce ne sont pas des perles fines. »
 « Can you tell me how much you were made to pay for this row of pearls ? » « Actually, they are not fine pearls. »

12) Nous avons entendu l’aspirant dire qu’il n’oublierait pas, lorsqu’il deviendrait amiral, combien il est dur de servir comme simple matelot.
 We have heard the midshipman saying that he wouldn’t forget, when he became an admiral, how hard it is to serve as an ordinary sailor.

13) L’inaptitude des hommes à communiquer entre eux de façon satisfaisante est peut-être l’échec le plus grave des temps modernes.
 Men’s incapacity for communicating satisfactorily between each other may be the most serious failure of modern times.

 Here are magazines which are worth glancing at/reading.

15) On avait fourni aux soldats des armes dont ils ne savaient pas se servir.
 The soldiers had been provided/supplied with weapons they couldn’t use.
